A Better Way of ABA
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy is a therapeutic modality that is centered on enhancing specific behaviors in individuals by applying principles of learning theory. These principles are used to increase or decrease the likelihood of behavior in the future. Using these principles effecitvely has been shown to to support a range of neurocognitive, mental health, nad behavior health disorders. ABA has been most commonly studied, and used to support the needs of individals on the AUtism Spectrum.
However, ABA therapy is not above nor absent of harm conducted by providers improperly apply these principles. While ABA has been shown to be effective addressing a wide range of behavioral challenges, it has also been criticized for its potential to cause harm.
